Needlepoint Art & Co.          Handmade Embroidery

Originated in Suzhou, a tranquil and beautiful water town in southeast China, Su Embroidery (also called Su Shiu) marks the height of all handmade embroideries. It is an art totally made by pure silk.  Over two thousand and six hundred years of gentle breeze and rain showers kept nourishing the water country and canals, which gave birth to many talented artists. It is a tradition to the families to embroider so they can capture everything they appreciate by their eyes using coloured pure silk threads.

Embroidery is our family tradition for three hundred years. In the past our family enjoyed a reputation of providing fine silk embroideries to the royal and to the emperor. Now we have come to the continent of North America and present our best to you. We hope you enjoy this art, too.

As silk embroidery art is made by hand on needlepoint, each piece takes great efforts.  It is very common to find pieces that take months, half a year or even years to finish. We dedicate our efforts for the best quality and effect.  Each single thread is produced of natural silk worm and then processed using natural plant dye. By applying a special method that has been used for over two thousand years, the silk threads shine naturally and the vivid color will last a lifetime.  In fact from an ancient emperor tombs that have recently been discovered we saw vibrant colored silk embroideries that dated back in 475-221B.C. The uniqueness with handmade and very limited quantities of each design made these timeless pieces truly collectable. We are very proud of our craftsmanship.
